Books, Pads & Sets
Books
Sizes A7 up to A3.
Spine - the edge of the book that is bound together.
Head Bound - short side of the paper is the spine.
Side Bound - Long side of the paper is the spine.
Saddle Stitch - binding a booklet or magazine with staples in the seam where it folds.
Binding Types
Spiral Bound - Wire or plastic is passed through punched holes along the bound side.
Perfect Bound - Spine edges of the sheet are glued to the cover like a telephone book.
Case Bound - The cover of the book is made separately from the body before3 being fixed together.
Binding Styles
Full Bound - The book cover material is the same as the pages.
Half Bound - One material is used for the covers and another for the spine and corners.
Quarter Bound - One material is used for the covers and a different material for the spine.
Recto - Right hand page of an open book.
Verso - Left hand page of an open book.
Score - A crease put on the page to help it fold better.
Pads
Sizes from A7 up to A1.
Glued or spiral Bound.
Head or side bound.
Backboard - this keeps the pad stiff.
Writing Shield - this is used to put between NCR sets to stop the writing going through to the sets below.
Hole drilled for filing.
Up to six parts in a set.
NCR - No Carbon Required. This means when you write on the front sheet, it carries through to the bottom sheets, without carbon paper.
Numbering - Sheets and sets can be numbered in any sequence.
Bar Coding - Sheets and sets can be bar coded for any data requirements.
Envelopes
Pocket - Flap on short side.
Wallet - Flap on long side.
Banker - Diamond flap.
Envelopes can be gummed or self seal.
